We have found some pros and cons to them when comparing to our "Broiler" chickens, but they are still big, meaty pasture-raised deliciousness.
All of our chickens are out on pasture from the time they leave the brooder, to the day they are processed. They are moved daily, giving them unlimited access to fresh greens, insects, clean water and Ontario grown, non-medicated, non-GMO feed.
The Rustic Ranger thrives on pasture, and is a very active and hardy bird. Their constant movement and foraging produces tons of flavorful dark meat, but relatively small breasts when comparing to the White Rock X that we raise as broilers. These birds also make some of the best broth you will ever taste.
We love to cut out the breasts to BBQ, and boil the rest for some amazing homestyle chicken soup.
